This is so odd. The new logo for the Russian spy agency certainly owes a lot to Batman. Bizarre.

So, does this mean the US intelligence agencies need to use an S shield in their logos now?

The GRU has used the bat as a part of it's logo for decades. The GRU was formed in 1918, I don't know how old their emblem specifically is, but there's 20 years there where it could likely have been created and predates Batman. It appears the shape of their bat has morphed over time, just as Bruce's chest emblem has.

Wow. I had no idea. Still, bizarre none-the-less to see Putin walk by the logo with a bizarre expression on his face as if he's thinking, "Hrmm, Christian Bale wasn't bad as Batman, but I still prefer some George Clooney. He's hunky!"
